Staying healthy and strong almost always comes with an increased ability to “weather the storm” of life. In the case of a life changing event or disaster, healthy individuals are much better able to cope with stress and take positive action. They are also more resistant to unhealthy coping mechanisms such as alcohol and smoking, and their bodies require less prescription medication in order to maintain proper balance/homeostasis. When a hurricane of uncontrollable events are presented, healthy individuals are often the most prepared to persist and push through.
